Quarterly Outcomes Review
At Touchstone Neurorecovery Center, we
believe that our programs for
individuals recovering from acquired
brain injury, stroke and other
neurological illnesses are effective.
In order to validate this, we conduct
evaluations of our programs through a
quarterly review of resident progress.
Below are the results from the 4th
quarter of 2008 for both Transitional
and Long Term residents.
Transitional Outcomes
During the last quarter of 2008 there
were 28 residents who discharged from
the program. The average length of
stay for those residents was 118 days.
Of the residents served, the majority
were in the age range of 26-40.
Below is the breakdown of those
residents by diagnosis:

The Functional Independence Measure and
Functional Assessment Measure are both
seven-point scales that measure physical
functioning, cognitive functioning, and
the ability to complete activities of
daily living, both basic and complex.
The higher score indicates a greater
level of independence. Below is the
graphical representation of the average
improvement of the residents served in
the fourth quarter:

The ability of the residents to improve
while in the Touchstone programs,
allowed for the vast majority of those
residents to be able to be discharged to
a home environment upon their graduation
from the program:

Long Term Outcomes
There are ** residents who call
Touchstone home. These residents
require consistent 24 hour care. With
these residents, the goal is to at least
maintain the same level of functioning
while ensuring that they are involved in
meaningful, daily activities that help
to foster the highest level of
independence possible. During this
quarter, Long Term residents actually
improved as noted below:

Customer Satisfaction
The other part of the services that are
measured routinely at Touchstone
Neurorecovery Center is Customer
Satisfaction. All transitional
residents, families and payors are asked
to complete a customer satisfaction form
upon discharge. Long Term care
residents, families and payors are asked
to complete the same survey each June
and December. All surveys returned this
quarter indicated satisfaction with the
programs offered in the following areas:
-
Customer service received from all
Touchstone staff members
-
Communication from the treatment
team
-
Satisfaction with the Plan of care
that was developed and the services
received
-
Satisfaction with the treatment team
members and their expertise
-
Overall program
Below is a graph that shows the
percentage of satisfaction in each of
those areas by each group:

Touchstone Neurorecovery Center
leadership uses this data quarterly as
part of the continuous quality
improvement program at the campus in
order to continue to exceed
expectations.
