Quarterly Outcomes Review
At Touchstone Neurorecovery Center, we
believe that our programs for
individuals recovering from acquired
brain injury, stroke, and other
neurological illnesses are effective.
In order to validate this, we conduct
evaluations of our programs through a
quarterly review of resident progress.
Below are the results from the 4th
quarter of 2009.
Transitional Outcomes
Transitional residents are those whose
length of stay is shorter than one year
in duration. During the last quarter of
2009, two Long Term residents who were
with us for an average of 1 year and 7
months were able to discharge home after
achieving their goals to ensure
successful independent living! Twenty
other Transitional residents were
discharged throughout the quarter as
well. The average length of stay for
those residents was 45.85 days. Of the
residents served, the majority (9) were
in the age range of 18 to 25. Below is
the breakdown of those residents by
diagnosis:

The Functional Independence Measure and
Functional Assessment Measure are both
seven-point scales that measure physical
functioning, cognitive functioning, and
the ability to complete activities of
daily living, both basic and complex.
The higher score indicates a greater
level of independence. Below is the
graphical representation of the average
improvement of the residents served in
the fourth quarter:

The ability of the resident to improve
while in the Touchstone programs allowed
for the vast majority of those residents
to be discharged to a home environment
upon their graduation from the program:

Customer Satisfaction
Customer Satisfaction is routinely
measured at Touchstone Neurorecovery
Center to learn how we can best serve
our customers. All transitional
residents and their families are asked
to complete a customer satisfaction form
upon discharge. Long Term residents and
their families are asked to complete the
same survey each June and December. All
surveys returned this quarter indicated
satisfaction with the programs offered
in the following areas:
-
Customer service received from all
Touchstone staff members
-
Communication from the treatment
team
-
Satisfaction with the Plan of care
that was developed and the services
received
-
Satisfaction with the treatment team
members and their expertise
-

Below is a graph that shows the
percentage of satisfaction in each of
those areas by each group for 2009:
